Always Calling Our Name

Written by Neal Bowes.

Read

Isaiah 43:1-2
1But now, says the LORD—
the one who created you, Jacob,
the one who formed you, Israel:
Don't fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name;
you are mine.
2When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
when through the rivers,
they won't sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you won't be scorched
and flame won't burn you.

Reflect

He had been out of town for a business meeting. The airline had lost his bag, so he was wearing the same clothes from the day before. The meeting had been long and tedious. The client just didn't seem to know what he wanted, so the whole trip was a waste. There had been an accident on the highway and traffic was backed up. He pulled into the airport five minutes after his plane had taken off. He was able to fly standby two hours later. As he walked out to the curb, it was cold and rainy. People were rushing around; it was crowded. One guy smacked right into him. He had had enough!

Then he heard his name being called out. He couldn't pinpoint the source at first, but the second time he turned and saw the smiling face of his friend who had come to pick him up. And in that moment, everything was fine. He could now relax. He could sit in his friend's car, disengage, and enjoy his company.

Life is like this. There are challenges, disappointments, and frustrations. But we always have a friend who is there to pick us up. God is constantly calling our name and is offering that opportunity to relax and enjoy the company.
