6Aren't five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them is overlooked by God. 7Even the hairs on your head are all counted. Don't be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.
Are you a fan of any particular celebrity? Is there a singer or a comedian or a movie star or a professional athlete who you really like? Are you enough of a fan to know this person's birthday or favorite food? Maybe you read about this person in a magazine or saw them on a TV interview and have learned these kinds of things. This is what fans do.
Well, in today's reading, Luke plays the ultimate fan trump card: God knows how many hairs are on your head--and has them all numbered! I bet you don't even know this about yourself. God is truly your biggest fan ever.
Did you ever think about God being a fan of yours? Do you realize that in God's eyes, you are a celebrity? This might sound a little crazy, but it's true. God adores you. God knows everything about you. God is interested in you.
Think again about your favorite celebrity. Imagine how it would be if this person showed up at your house one day and wanted to spend the entire afternoon with you. How would that make you feel? You'd be thrilled beyond belief, wouldn't you?
Well, in a very similar way, God is excited when you stop and spend time in prayer. God doesn't like to be separated from you. In fact, Luke 15 says that there is a huge party in Heaven when one sinner turns back to God.
Spend some time in prayer, now, thanking God for always being there for you and for loving you unconditionally.
If today's devotion spoke to you in a particular way and you feel led to share your thoughts with others, please do so.
